15.07.19 | Spatial Simulation and Sonic Realities

Monday 15th July, 6 – 9.30pm

Max Fordham Engineers,

42-43 Gloucester Crescent, NW1 7PE

The Bartlett, UCL Sound Making Space Doctoral Network, in collaboration with Max Fordham Engineers presents an evening of demonstrations and discussions, where we will interrogate the opportunities and considerations when using ambisonic simulation and VR technologies in architectural and sound-based practices. Acoustic engineer Pedro Novo will introduce the session and the technology, which will then be demonstrated live with VR headsets and within Max Fordham’s SoundSpace: A 360 degree loudspeaker environment which simulates acoustic behaviour in built and unbuilt spaces. We will conclude with drinks and a discussion led by Architect and Composer Emma-Kate Matthews, where we will share our experiences and observations surrounding the technology which enables us to represent and simulate audible environments.
